7th Science Filmmaking Marathon
For Scientists, Postdocs and PhD students
Zurich 12-14 September 2024
DESCRIPTION
In the Filmmaking Marathon, we train researchers in the tools of dramatic storytelling and filmmaking to communicate their research and make their science more accessible to a broader audience. Participants from various Swiss universities and research centres learn the basics of visual storytelling and filmmaking and produce short films in groups under the guidance of professional filmmakers. The films produced will be screened as premieres at the 6th Global Science Film Festival (www.sciencefilm.ch) in Basel, Bern, Lugano and Zurich from November 8-10, 2024, with a special award for the best film.

PROGRAM
Day 1
- Pitching of science stories, and creating of small groups (scientists and filmmakers)
- Each group prepares their story, script and storyboard, and presents it to the other marathon participants
Day 2
- Filming (participants are free to decide where and when to film)
Day 3
- Film editing
